A Korean New Era hangtag can help you identify a cap more precisely than its front logo alone. Start with the eight-digit MI number, then compare the product description, size and printed won price. This guide uses two paired sets of product photographs supplied to Korean Brand Guide: a black-and-white Hello Kitty cap and a white-front NY cap with a blue brim. The contributor confirmed which hangtag belongs to each cap.

These are visual descriptions, not reconstructed official product titles. Parts of the product-name lines are cropped in the supplied photographs. We therefore preserve the readable identifiers instead of guessing missing words. No current official listing for these exact two item numbers was verified for this article.
1. Copy the MI number, not just “9FORTY”
On these two tags, the MI line contains an eight-digit identifier. Record every digit before searching or contacting a seller. “9FORTY” appears on the brim stickers of both caps, so it cannot distinguish one of these items from the others. Treat it as a cap-family label, not the unique item number.
The Hello Kitty tag shows MI 15211880, while the NY tag shows MI 15206362. Their size and price are the same, but their item numbers and designs differ. The MI identifier is therefore more useful than price or OSFM when asking a seller for the exact item.
2. Translate the Korean fields
- 상품: product description. Keep the visible text, but do not fill in cropped abbreviations from memory.
- 사이즈: size. Both photographed tags show OSFM.
- 가격: price. The won sign identifies the currency used on the label.
- 제조사: manufacturer. These tags show 뉴에라캡, meaning New Era Cap.
- 수입원: importer. The visible text identifies New Era Cap Korea; the company wording is more fully visible on the NY cap close-up.
An importer name is not a manufacturing-country statement. These particular views do not establish where the caps were made. For country of manufacture, materials and care instructions, request photographs of the labels inside the cap. 3. OSFM means “one size fits most,” not everyone
New Era’s official regional product pages use OSFM alongside “One Size Fits Most.” It is not a fixed fitted-cap size such as 7¼, nor a promise that every adjustable cap has the same fit. Check the exact product’s size chart and closure before ordering.
For example, an official US 9FORTY A-Frame listing gives a one-size range of 55.8–60.6 cm. That is a reference for that listing, not a verified measurement range for the two Korean-tagged caps above. We have not measured their adjustment ranges or tested their fit.
New Era’s measuring guidance recommends measuring around the head where the sweatband rests, above the eyebrows and ears, with the tape snug rather than tight. Compare your result with the chart for the item you intend to buy. Ask for a rear-view photo as well: the supplied front views do not show how each closure adjusts.
4. The sticker and price answer different questions
The Hello Kitty cap’s visible brim sticker reads “9FORTY,” “Adjustable” and “A-Frame.” The NY cap’s visible sticker also reads “9FORTY,” “Adjustable” and “A-Frame.” These shared descriptions do not mean they are the same item.
Both photographed tags show ₩49,000. This is a record of their printed label price, not today’s checkout price. A discount or a different reseller price does not by itself explain authenticity, regional exclusivity or product quality. This guide does not treat these figures as a price ranking or a recommendation to buy one cap over another.
5. What to send a seller
A focused question is more useful than sending only a logo photo. For example: “I am looking for New Era MI 15206362, OSFM, the white-front NY cap with a blue brim. Could you confirm the item number and send clear photos of the full hangtag, rear closure and inside material/care labels?”
Compare the code, design, size and labels together. A matching barcode, Korean importer sticker or branded plastic bag is supporting information, not a standalone authentication test.
